Our journey began with a leading service discovery app in Singapore that connects users with essential home services like cleaning and repairs. After the platform was bought by Singapore’s biggest real estate agency, our challenge grew. The app needed to handle many more users and provide a top-notch experience.
In 6 months, our dedicated team of nine specialists worked closely with their team to completely rebuild the app with Flutter and NodeJS. We redesigned the architecture from the ground up, ensuring it could support sustained growth.
What we faced
Before the upgrade, the platform suffered from five “growing pains” typical of early-stage startups:
- Poor performance: the app was plagued by lag and frequent crashes, hurting user retention.
- Weak security: existing protocols weren’t strong enough to protect sensitive user data at an enterprise level.
- Cluttered ui/ux: users struggled to find the services they needed due to a confusing interface.

The strategy we built
To turn these pain points into competitive advantages, we implemented a modernization strategy focused on a complete mobile app development overhaul, which centered on stability, scalability, and a truly user-centric design.
User experience (Frontend – Flutter)
We chose Flutter to rebuild the mobile interface from the ground up. This allowed us to maintain a single codebase for both iOS and Android without compromising on performance.
User-centric redesign
We re-mapped the entire user journey by simplifying the booking flow and reducing the number of “clicks” to reach a service, which significantly lowered user drop-off rates.
Source code optimization
We applied advanced caching and state management techniques. The result is a “buttery-smooth” UI that remains responsive even on older devices or under poor network conditions.
System wide (Backend – NodeJS & Cloud)
The biggest transformation happened under the hood. We migrated the backend from a single, rigid block (Monolith) to a Microservices Architecture using NodeJS.

Instead of one giant, tangled block of code, we broke the system into independent services. This makes the app more resilient and much easier to maintain.
Cloud-based Scalability
We utilized cloud infrastructure to allow the system to “stretch” automatically during traffic spikes. When traffic surges, the system adds more server power in real-time and shrinks back down when quiet, optimizing performance while saving operational costs.
New features to boost trust and conversion
We integrated a flexible payment gateway supporting digital wallets and PayPal. This modernized the entire transaction cycle, making it faster and more secure for both customers and merchants.
Also, we built a real-time chat system between customers and service providers. By enabling instant communication, we reduced the time-to-conversion and allowed the platform to handle disputes or inquiries directly within the app.
The results – an enterprise-level platform ready for growth
The impact of this six-month transformation was immediate. By replacing legacy technical debt with a flexible, high-performance architecture, our client successfully integrated into their new corporate environment with reliable operations.
Users now get a smoother app, quick payments, and direct chat with merchants, which boosts engagement and trust. Features like merchant comparison have made the platform a real marketplace.
